Furniture Statement

     I design and build furniture from reclaimed materials using traditional joinery techniques. I source all my own material, hand selecting from old barns, homesteads and junkyards. Working with the materials’ inherent historical energy, I create a piece to participate in our present daily life, adding to our continuing story. Each piece has it’s own integrity derived from great care, focus, and attention to detail. Every piece of furniture I make must be functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.

My designs are influenced by a combination of Shaker sensibility, the enduring graceful forms of the natural world, the Western landscape we live in and its inhabitants, and the breadth of work by talented craft folk before me.

I worked around the West as a carpenter, and then in New York City as cabinetmaker, before evolving into a professional visual artist and furniture maker. After being away from Wyoming for fifteen years, I recently moved back to my beloved home state where I work to heed the story of the landscape through visual form. I have participated in various arts and furniture shows in the Rocky Mountains and New York City. I was honored to win an “Exhibitor’s Choice” award at the 2012 Western Design Conference in Jackson Hole, WY and “Best in Show” for wood at the 2015 Kimball Arts Festival in Park City, UT.  My studio and shop are located in Laramie, WY; my custom pieces are in homes across the country.

In working with clients, I use a collaborative approach in which we bring all our experiences and talents to the table to develop a piece you want to live with for generations. I listen to what you want first, then design something that takes the whole picture into account.
